Or as I've taken to calling them, Fused Copper and Silver Pains in the Butt. I've been working intermittently over a ridiculously long time on these little earrings; initially they were going to be a bracelet, then a pair of disk stud earrings with a little ball of silver hanging off them, then, a bracelet again, then they went in the bin for a little while... then I felt silly and fished them out and finally messed around with fusing silver to the copper disks. I was finally happy with how the effect looked, even if one of them fused more than the other and ended up almost an alloy. :/ Ah well, it was fun experimentation. They've been polished so many times now after pickling I've lost count lol. Finally, I added two little sterling rivets to the bottom of each disk, mainly to cover up the initial holes I stupidly put there but also because I wanted a little bit of 'purer' silver to shine from amongst the fused stuff. Too much work for too small a result. Sterling soldered jump rings and ear wires later and I'm not touching them any more. Apologies for the terrible photographs, I'll take better ones when I can. | |
