I was lucky enough to get involved as a volunteer in this year's Participate and Exchange Conference in Brisbane; a large jewellers conference with jewellery experts, master classes, events, gallery exhibitions and talks by jewellery artists from Australia and abroad. I helped out at a couple of events, Graduate Metal 13, which was an exhibition of selected works by jewellery and small object/sculpture students and graduates from various schools, and also at one of the conference days, which, though I didn't actually get to listen to any of the key speakers, I did meet a lot of wonderful people with similar interests (and also froze my butt off in the draughty, though beautiful, State Library building). These are my photos from the conference and the library terraces, which, strangely enough, after almost three years of living in Brisbane, I'd never actually visited. I also have a huge bunch of photos from the Graduate Metal exhibition but I still have to get permission to post them here. In the meantime, here's me being a right ham with my early morning "before coffee" face while opening the Graduate Metal gallery (also failing EPICALLY at the selfie): | |
